JCPenney Round-Up
Wilton Mall . August 4-17, 2010
Shop between August 4th through 17th at the JCPenney -
Wilton Mall and you may "round-up" your purchase to the next
whole dollar-then the JCPenney Afterschool Fund will donate the
difference to the YMCA of Saratoga to provide children in this community
with access to life-enriching afterschool programs.
What is the JCPenney Afterschool Round-up?
This
nationwide program provides our customers the opportunity
to make donations to the JCPenney Afterschool Fund at the
cash
register by rounding up their JCPenney store purchases to the next
whole dollar. All donations collected by the Wilton Mall JCPenney
store will be donated to the YMCA of Saratoga's afterschool
programs!

NEW! Before and After School Enrichment
YMCA to Offer Before and After School Enrichment
(B.A.S.E.) Program at Wood Road Elementary School in Ballston Spa
The YMCA of Saratoga is now offering a safe, fun and reliable before
and after school program at Wood Road Elementary School in Ballston
Spa. For children in kindergarten through 5th grade, this NYS
licensed program provides your child with indoor and outdoor play,
group games, creative arts, educational enrichment and homework
assistance.
The B.A.S.E. morning program begins at 7:00 a.m. and the afternoon
program ends at 6:00 p.m. Also, all school age YMCA members are
eligible for Fun Club, a full day program held on scheduled Saratoga
Springs School holidays at the Saratoga Springs Branch, for an
additional fee.
For families who need help with the fees and qualify, the YMCA of
Saratoga has scholarships available. Stop by the Saratoga
Springs, Corinth, Malta and Wilton branch front desks to pick up a
scholarship application or visit www.ymcasaratoga.org.
The YMCA of Saratoga also has sites at the Saratoga Springs Branch,
Lake Ave Elementary School, Dorothy Nolan Elementary School, and
Caroline Street Elementary School--all with before and after school
care options.

Offer Preteen Recreation & Enrichment Program (P.R.E.P) at Ballston
Spa Middle School
At the YMCA of Saratoga's new Preteen Recreation and
Enrichment Program (P.R.E.P.), children enjoy a safe environment and
fun afternoon games, swimming, and homework help. This after
school enrichment program was designed for children entering 6th
through 8th grades. P.R.E.P. is a NYS licensed program with
trained staff and runs until 6:00 p.m.

Tennis News
Come join us for our annual YMCA of Saratoga bus trip to
the 2010
US Open in Flushing, New York, on Wednesday, September
1st.
Your $100 fee pays for a ticket for a stadium seat (they can
also be
used as a grounds pass to view outer court matches), bus ride, parking,
driver gratuity, coffee/bagels, and snacks/water. Registration begins
on Monday, August 2nd at 7:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased online,
by phone, or in person at any of our branches. Contact Rolland at

Activate America:
Looking for a great recipe for those beets you purchased
from your local Farmers Market? This is a sweet and delicious
recipe the whole family will love.
Ingredients
3 medium beets (about one pound)
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
2 tablespoons orange juice
2 tablespoons sliced green onion
1 tablespoon snipped mint
2 cups Romaine lettuce,torn
1 tart green apple, diced
Directions
Cook whole beets covered, in simmering water for 40-50 minutes until
tender. Drain, and cool slightly, remove skin and cut into thin strips.
For dressing: combine oil, vinegar, zest, orange juice,
green onion, mint and honey in screwtop jar, shake to combine. Toss
half of dressing with beets, chill for 2 to 24 hours.
To serve, combine torn Romaine and diced apple in a
serving bowl, toss with the rest of the dressing, and top with beets.
Garnish with mint.

Hudson River Community Credit Union to Hold Charity Golf
Tournament
Proceeds to Benefit YMCA of Saratoga
Hudson River Community Credit Union (HRCCU) will be
holding its Fourth Annual Golf Classic. The event will be held on
Friday, August 13, 2010 at Airway Meadows Golf Club in Gansevoort, NY.
The Golf Classic format is a shotgun scramble that begins at
noon.
The goal of the Golf Classic is to support youth programs
in our region. The beneficiaries for this year's event include: The
Glens Falls Area Youth Center, The Cohoes Community Center and the YMCA
of Saratoga - Corinth Branch.
The YMCA of Saratoga - Corinth Branch will use their
proceeds from the Golf Classic to benefit their Free Swimming Program
for Youth ages 6 - 12 and the After School Enrichment Program, which
offers activities, games and crafts for students in grades K - 5.
Please join HRCCU for a fun-filled day of golf with
great company, lunch, barbecue dinner, prizes and a wonderful
opportunity to make lives better for youth in our region.
The golfer's cost for the Classic is only $110 per person,
which covers golf fees, cart, beverages on the course, goodie bag,
lunch and barbecue dinner. Mulligans will be available for an
additional cost.

We've Added Another Zumba
Class
Starting Saturday, July 10th we will have Zumba class on
Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Zumba is a fusion of Latin
rhythms and international music with easy-to-follow moves to create a
dynamic, fun, and effective cardio workout. The class features an
interval training format incorporating fast and slow rhythms and
resistance training to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. You
will have a GREAT time and sweat! Also, our new Group
Fitness Summer schedule is now available.
Wilton Branch: Babysitting
Wilton branch babysitting will be starting new hours! The
Wilton babysitting room will be available to members and their children
from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. daily, Monday-Friday. Enjoy the summer months
outdoors and we will resume evening and Saturday babysitting in the
fall.
Wilton Branch: Parents' Night
Out
Wilton Parents' Night Out is scheduled for September
24th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Cost is $15/child. You may

Clinic with Ann Svenson
For swimmers who will be participating in their first open

Babysitting Certification Course. We will offer the program on the

Cost: $25 per person
Ages:11-15 years old
This is a Red Cross certified course and participants are encouraged
to volunteer for 6 hours at our Saratoga Springs and/or
Wilton Branch Babysitting Rooms, upon completion of this course.

Branch: Sunday Shoppers
Sunday Shoppers is a program where children may
come to the YMCA from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. while their
parents run errands, do their weekly grocery shopping or stroll
the shops downtown. We will have planned activities for the children
(between the ages of 8 weeks and 9 years old).
We will play outside, do a craft, watch a movie and
provide a snack. The cost is $15 per child and you may register
at the front desk. Space is limited so register early. You will
also need to complete a registration form for this program, available
at the front desk.

Parents' Night Out is for children ages 8 weeks to 9 years

are limited.
In addition, our Youth and Sports department will be
joining Parents' Night Out. This department will be working with
the 8 and 9 year olds to offer age-appropriate activites designed just
for them!

facilities and/or cancel programs will be decided by the COO.
This decision is based on the state and local recommendations that we
are in a declared state of emergency. The following media
