People
The YMCA of Saratoga provides many opportunities for
spiritual, mental, and physical growth for members and the
community alike. These positive programs and services are
available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, because of
contributions to our annual scholarship campaign, We Build People.

100% of
your donation goes towards scholarships at the YMCA of
Saratoga. Also, your donation is 100% tax-deductible.
"We have been blessed with a scholarship in our
difficult financial time and our children would miss out on these
positive experiences without the assistance of funding. I can only hope
and pray, someday when employment returns, that we can provide
scholarship money to other families in need. Passing it forward,
as we so often did in the past."
A Note From a Saratoga Springs Family

Keeping
it interesting
Making a nutritious,fun-to-eat lunch for your child each
day doesn't have to be complicated. You don't have to spend a lot of
time in the kitchen cooking up culinary wonders: most kids enjoy simple
fare. What they really love is opening up their creative minds when
they open up their lunchboxes. Just adding a few simple touches
can spice up a nutritious lunch with a little mystery, suprise, or
challenge.
Seaside
Lunch
1 Peanut butter and
"jellyfish"sandwich
1/3 cup fish-shaped crackers
Sand dollar
apple slices
1/3 cup fish-shaped gummy treats
1/2 cup broccoli florets (palm trees)
Sand pail and
shovel (cup of lowfat yogurt and plastic spoon)
In your child's lunch box, place a picture of your family
at the beach and a few seashells you collected while you were there.
Talk about all the fun you had and maybe make plans for your next trip
to the beach.

YMCA of
Saratoga Community Garden
Many hands make light work!
The YMCA Community Garden is 'up and growing'
already. This year it has been divided into three sections.
Saratoga Bridges will be working part of it, as will a YMCA staff
member and, of course, the kids. Right now you'll see some lettuce,
herbs and a tipi. If you look closely you'll notice some morning
glories coming up around the sign posts. These are from last
years plants. The tipi will support green beans. Under the
straw we have potatoes.
Recently the preschool classes learned about gardening and planted some
seeds indoors that will soon be put in the garden.
We have a core group of volunteers to help weed and pick. If
you'd like to join us, please contact Julie VanDeusen at julievandeusen@gmail.com or
899-4937.
