Capital Campaign: Wilton Branch
Tennis Expansion
A YMCA tennis facility for kids, families, adults and YOU...
Serving up fun and fitness for everyone—one volley at time!

Our Case
The Y’s youth and adult tennis programs are very much a part of our mission. This lifelong sport teaches youth, families and adults a fun way to stay healthy, but also incorporates the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Through playing this
diverse game—kids and adults alike—learn, grow and thrive.

Unfortunately, our tennis program is at full
capacity due to space and facility limitations.
The Wilton Branch currently has four, non-air
conditioned courts. The demand of court time for lessons, leagues and members who just want to play, far outweighs what we have available.

Most often children cannot continue or participate in lessons because of the lack of opportunities and space. Since the courts do not have air conditioning, they sit empty and unused for most of the summer months.

Our Cause
The Y is working hard to reduce childhood obesity and encourage frequent exercise by our youth. This project will help make it possible to introduce kids, and even adults, to tennis. In the long-term, these youth, as well as adults, will have a foundation in a healthy activity that will improve their overall health and fitness throughout their life. These extra courts
would provide the opportunity for families to participate in a fun activity that gets everyone up and moving!

Our Plan
We would like to expand the tennis program by adding 4 indoor tennis courts, allowing us to increase our program capacity by 100%.

• These courts would be an extension to our existing building and will include air conditioning. This would allow those who wish to continue playing inside, to avoid heat and sun exposure during the summer months the opportunity.

• With this expansion, our goal is to provide a more extensive youth program and to be able to overall serve more members.

• Additional courts would allow youth and adult tennis players the opportunity to reach the next level of play. We would like to provide options for practice time for USTA Team Tennis participants as well.

• Adults, families and seniors would be able to utilize the courts and enjoy the health benefits of the game.

• Ultimately, we would be able to expand our services to more of the population, provide better program content and more classes for everyone.

We all know court time has been getting
tighter, so let’s do something about it!
