Drop Off Your Drawers
The Think Peace Workshop for
Girls and To Love a Child are working towards collecting 5,000
panties!
Everyday women and girls in Haiti and Zimbabwe
struggle for food, shelter, education and the bare essentials that
make life comfortable. They live with little to call their own
due to extreme poverty caused by environmental, social and political
consequences.
You can make a profound difference in the lives of
women and girls today by donating new panties. Your gift will
boost their self-esteem and helps to give them confidence.
Colorful panties for women and girls of all sizes are
needed. Drop off your drawers at the YMCA of Saratoga's
Saratoga Springs Branch!
For more information, please call 518-859-4424.

Are Your Valuables Locked Up?
We strongly urge members to lock up their valuables.
Lockers may be secured by members, using their own lock, while they
are in the building. Locks must be removed when leaving the building
each day. The YMCA is not responsible for valuables left unattended.
Mini lockers are available at some branch locations,
at no cost. For a token, please see the front desk.
If you leave valuables in your vehicle, please make
sure these items are out of sight.

Fall Rowing Challenge
Join the Y rowing team on a "Row Trip" cross
country!
On September 15th, the Y Rowing Team started the
first month-long leg on a virtual rowing trip headed west. We, as a
team, compete in the concept2 Fall Rowing Challenge against hundreds
of teams from all over the world. And just for fun at the end
of the Fall Challenge, we will mark the destination on a map and
celebrate with a theme wrap-up party at the Y's Saratoga Springs
Branch on October 26th at 6:00 p.m.
The second leg of the trip starts with the January Challenge, where
we will pick up the road trip where we left off. This will run
January 15th-February 15th, and once again, we will celebrate with a
destination theme and wrap-up party (date TBA).
The third and final leg, the Spring Challenge, will be held April
15th-May 15th. We will celebrate with a final destination party (date
TBA) and prizes for all who have participated in at least one leg of
the challenge.
It's easy to join our team and all level of rowers are welcome. Just
log onto concept2.com and create a personal log sheet. Designate the
Saratoga Springs Y as your team and click "join the Fall
Challenge". It's important that you log your meters
on-line in order for our team to compete against other concept2
teams.

Activate America
Explore a little
something different for a fun meal--add fresh cooked or canned pumpkin
to your favorite pancake batter.
Family Food Idol
Judge new, rarely, or
never-before-tasted foods (fruits, vegetables, healthy recipes, other
healthy foods) by choosing 3 similar types of food and have family
members rank them 1 for the best, 2 for good, and 3 for not as good.
Count up all of the points for each food. The food with the most points
is now the new "Food Idol" in your home for the week.
